Chapter 4 Heat The chapter tells how to distinguish between hot and cold objects, how to measure temperature using clinical and laboratory thermometers, different methods of heat transfer, and applications of heat transfer such as preference of different clothes for summers and winters. Chapter 5 Acids, Bases and Salts The chapter mentions the meaning and examples of acids and bases, uses of natural indicators, neutralisation reactions and its applications in everyday life.
Chapter 6 Physical and Chemical Changes This chapter gives detailed information about physical and chemical changes. It also teaches about processes like rusting of iron and crystallisation.
Chapter 7 Weather, Climate and Adaptations This chapter describes weather and its elements, climate and adaptations of animals to survive in different climates.
Chapter 8 Winds, Storms and Cyclones This chapter describes the properties of air like it exerts pressure, expands on heating, air moving at high-speed are accompanied by reduced pressure; uneven heating of the Earth causes winds, formation of thunderstorms and cyclones, destruction and precautions during a cyclone, and the use of advanced technology to predict cyclones.
Chapter 9 Soil The chapter mentions the presence of living creatures in soil, the different layers that make up the soil profile, and the various types of soil, properties like moisture content and absorption, and the use of soil to grow crops.
Chapter 10 Respiration in Organisms The chapter mentions why we breathe, the process of breathing, how we breathe, what we breathe out, breathing in case of different animals, breathing under water and to know whether the plants also respire.
Chapter 11 Transportation in Animals and Plants The chapter elaborates on the mechanisms of transportation of food and water in plants as well as in animals. We will understand about the structures and systems involved in transportation while focusing on the circulatory system in humans.
Chapter 12 Reproduction in Plants This chapter highlights the two modes of reproduction seen in plants, that is sexual and asexual reproduction. We also focus on methods of asexual reproduction, mechanism of sexual reproduction and pollination.
Chapter 13 Motion and Time This chapter explains the difference between slow and fast, the meaning and formula of speed, ancient and modern means of measuring the time, and plotting and interpreting the distance-time graph.
Chapter 14 Electric Current and its Effects The chapter mentions the symbols of electric components, the heating effect of electric current, magnetic effect of electric current, electromagnet, and electric bell.
Chapter 15 Light The chapter mentions the light travelling in a straight line, reflection of light, lateral inversion of the image in a mirror, and spherical mirrors. We will also learn about the images formed by the lens, the colour of sunlight and its components.
Chapter 16 Water: A Precious Resource This chapter teach us the importance and availability of water. We will learn regarding different forms of water, how groundwater is an important source. We will emphasise upon depletion of water table, distribution of water and water management, what role we can play to conserve water and effect of water scarcity on plants.
Chapter 17 Forests: Our Lifeline The chapter mentions the various components of a forest, the advantages of forest and their importance in our life. Understand the differentiate between afforestation and deforestation
